We know that when someone develops dementia (which includes Alzheimer’s Disease) it doesn’t just impact the person with the diagnosis – everyone around them is also affected. This local charity works for them all. In centres around the Borough of Barnet, Dementia Club UK runs several dementia club sessions. Details of all the venues and session dates can be found on their programme at www.dementiaclubuk.org.uk.

People with dementia are welcome to attend with their carers, friends and families and also welcome are those who have lost someone with dementia and are now lonely. Each session aims to provide professional advice and information, gentle exercise to music and fun activities in a social atmosphere with cups of tea/coffee and lovely cakes. Various speakers will attend the sessions and they have a GP who volunteers their time and attends most sessions.

They also provide training for churches and other locations so that they can become Dementia Friendly. We are a Dementia Friendly Church, thanks to their training.
