Direct from the heart of London The Soho Jazz Knights is an instrumental collective put together by U.K bassist Shura Greenberg in 2019 with a desire and commitment to present live jazz and popular music to audiences throughout the capital and beyond.
Performing both classic songs from the jazz and popular music songbook and choice originals every date is an odyssey of passionate music making which is guaranteed to leave you wanting more!
Bassist. Band leader and Soho jazz knights arranger Shura Greenberg is an alumni of The Guildhall School of Music in London (as is Dirk Vetter) and since graduating has been a professional working in both the world of theatre shows and performing jazz in venues throughout the UK. Shura had a particularly rich association with the late great British saxophonist Duncan Lamont. Over a number of years Shura and Duncan performed together in a variety of different ensembles including The Shura Greenberg Duncan Lamont Quintet.
The Knights personnel also include German saxophonist Dirk Vetter whose previous work in the UK involves playing alongside such British jazz legends as Gordon Beck, Ron Matthewson, Spike Wells and Ian Hamer.
Drummer/percussionist Paulo Bertagna. Moved to London in 2000. Studied with the greatest Italian drummer at center music profession in Milano and in London at drum-tech.Versatile drummer currently performing with different musical projects from Jazz big band , funk and small trio.
Trumpeter Steve Sincock is yet another alumni of the Guildhall School of Music and has been performing on the London jazz scene for over three decades. He is quite simply one of the best kept secrets of UK jazz. His unmistakeable tone and musical approach has been likened to Chet Baker. Altogether a wonderfully lyrical player.
The band also features special guest star players and singers from time to time. One such legend is Essex based saxophonist Martin Hathaway featured on one of the video clips included below. Truly an awesome musician. Vocalists and cabaret performers Aletia Upstairs and Maja Bloom can be heard accompanied by the Soho Jazz Knights on other included video clips.
Welcome to the jazz crusade!,
