Celebrating summer at St Mary’s

2025 smaf bbq 05

We started off June dazzled away with beautiful melodies from the Voyages Concert, the fun doesn’t stop because in a week the party continues celebrating Alison Fisher’s launch of her most recent recording “New French Song II”. Come celebrate with us!

The last Pilgrimage to St Albans Festival a couple of weeks ago was also a great day out with so much to see and enjoy together. Our next trip is a day trip to the sea side, we are only 8 days away! Spots are going quick! Register this weekend to not miss this unique sharing day out.

At St Mary’s we love to organise walks and right now we are on our way doing The Thames Path. The sunny days have not disappointed, one day we even saw a seal gliding alongside with us through the water! (that little head popping out of the water is the seal, see photo below)

The last walk was a special yearly summer walk through Finchley:

‘On a warm evening last month, Nick led us on a fine country walk from the Church. We passed Finchley Nurseries, Darlands Lake and the Orange Tree pub. We rounded off the evening in Whetstone with a very enjoyable meal in the garden of the La Luna tapas restaurant.’ – June Nash

We have more walks coming up! There was our very own St Mary’s Heritage Walk a couple of weeks ago. It was so successful a second one was organised and it’s happening today! Drop by the church today at 2pm and let’s keep on enjoying the summer and finalise the day with a refreshing drink.

Most importantly, we want to thank all of our volunteers here at St Mary’s who have made possible all these events, including last weekend’s church BBQ where it was so lovely to be all together at the Rectory’s wonderful garden. It’s thanks to all our volunteers and all those supporting them by simply being present that cheer up the life at St Mary’s and make St Mary’s special.

A big special thank you to Nicholas who has donated a lawn mower and helped us tidy the front of the church!

Definitely exciting times! And it couldn’t be better with our building finally being repaired and restored and all the love, care and time everyone has invested.

Thank you all!
Rain or shine we know how to have fun at St Mary’s!

Summer in action!

Thank you to all the photographers and Tony M. for documenting so many of our events.
If you’ve been to an event at St Mary’s and would like to share your pictures with us, please send them to photos@stmaryatfinchley.org.uk and we’ll be happy to share them on St Mary’s Instagram and Facebook.
