Holocaust Memorial Day
Our church and faith community has been commemorating Holocaust Memorial Day for the past two decades. This year we honour a very special anniversary, 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
When we gather together on Sunday evening, January 26, alongside friends of other faiths and those of none we will be marking this significant anniversary in a very special way.
This year’s theme – “For a better future” – invites us to dedicate ourselves to becoming the generations who carry forward the legacy of witnesses and to remember all who lost their lives in such appalling circumstances.
Our evening will follow a time-honoured format with simple prayers and readings, musical contribution from our Youth Choir and guest speaker Emily Cass.
We know that, as people of faith, we can all make a difference in our own way, sharing a responsibility to make the world a fairer, safer and kinder place.
